University of Birmingham Chancellor, Lord Karan Bilimoria, released a statement that they are strengthening and celebrating new connections with partners and alumni across the Commonwealth. Over the pandemic, a lot got changed in the United Kingdom which also affected the education system. As a result, Indian students who were pursuing education in the United Kingdom or were looking forward to studying in the UK had to bear the consequences.

Last year, the UK and India signed an Enhanced Trade Partnership projected of doubling bilateral trade to £50 billion by 2030 and in January 2022, the UK and India commenced formal negotiations of a UK-India Free Trade Agreement. This is a new era of the Indo-British partnership and the potential for the fifth and sixth largest economies in the world to partner and collaborates on every front, including education and research, is limitless.
As per the reports, the UK and India signed an Enhanced Trade Partnership that focussed on increasing the bilateral trade to £50 billion by 2030. Also, at the beginning of the year 2020, formal negotiations for a UK-India Free Trade Agreement were commenced. This is a new era and we have partners across India that help create an impact on various sectors, including environmental pollution, sustainable cooling, surgical hygiene, and sports science. To be precise at present we are running around 40+ joint research projects and partnerships in India covering areas like air pollution, antimicrobial resistance, women’s cancer, clean cooling technology, global surgery, genomics, sustainable energy, sports, and more.
The new graduate visa is highly secure and came into effect on January 1, 2021, which allows all Indian students to spend around two years working in the UK after completion of their course or program and three years for Ph.D. students.
It is a great opportunity for Indian students to study and work together in Britain. I believe this launch is surely going to motivate a lot of Indian students to study in Britain universities. As a result, it will increase the crowd by leaps and bounds over the years.

The majority of Covid restrictions have been lifted, but most universities are taking measures and precautions to help ensure that the staff and students are safe. Wearing face-covering in busy indoor areas, following good personal hygiene practices, and using home test kits twice a week are a few measures still applicable to students and staff. We also encourage people to take double vaccinations and self-isolate when required or report any positive signs.
