5 UK Scholarships International Students Can Apply for in 2022

International students preparing for studying in the UK for the academic year 2022-23 still have the opportunity to grab a few scholarships in the UK. We have shortlisted a few UK scholarships for international students that will partially or fully fund your studies and reduce the financial stress.

One can find many scholarships at different levels – undergraduate, master’s, or Ph.D. Here are a few that might interest and fulfill your need:

GREAT Scholarships 2022

Most UK universities offer GREAT Scholarships for different subject areas. However, it can be applied by students from 18 countries, including Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Brunei, China, Egypt, Ghana, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.

The scholarship is worth a minimum of £10,000 that covers the student’s tuition fees for a one-year taught postgraduate course.

Funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and participating higher education institutions (Cardiff University, Goldsmiths, University of London, Aston University, Birmingham) in the UK.

  • Cardiff University

Brunei, China, Mexico, and Thailand are the eligible country and its deadline is May 31, 2022 (11:59 pm BST)

Scholarships available: Four (one award for each eligible country)

  • Goldsmiths, University of London

India and Pakistan are the eligible countries and the deadline is May 22, 2022 (11.59 pm BST)

Scholarships available: Two (one award for each eligible country)

  • Aston University, Birmingham

Bangladesh, Egypt, Nepal, and Kenya are the eligible country and the deadline is June 12, 2022

Note: For Kenyans, the scholarship is only awarded to justice and law students

Scholarships: Four (one award for each eligible country)

University College London

University College London is a top world university that offers excellent academic and experiential learning opportunities. Ranked joint eighth in the QS University Rankings in 2022, the university also offers various scholarships for international students who face financial issues and fail to pursue education at the coveted institution.

International students with a lower income background can apply for the UCL Global Masters Scholarship which is worth a minimum of £15,000 a year.

Selection criteria: Financial need and is available to all nationalities

Eligible programmes: All postgraduate taught programmes

Deadline: May 12. 2022 (5 p.m. BST)

Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Metropolitan University offers Chancellor’s and Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarships to international students who demonstrate exceptional academic abilities.

The university offers worth a minimum of £6,000 (for Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship) and £8,000 (for Chancellor’s International Scholarship) a year in the first year of study.

Selection criteria: Self-funding student with strong academic background. Also, has been offered a place in an eligible course starting in September 2022.

Eligible courses: 

  • Postgraduate-taught programmes (MA Design Innovation, MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Cyber Security, MSc Data Science, MA Emergent Technologies, MSc Digital Marketing Communications, MSc Financial Technology, MSc Sports Business Management & Policy, MSc (Pre-registration) Physiotherapy, MA Sound Design, MA Games Art, MSc Sport, and Exercise Science)
  • Undergraduate programmes (BSc Physiotherapy, BSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and BSc Sport and Exercise Science)

Deadline: June 30, 2022

University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham offers Global Masters Scholarship.

Only 40 International students will be eligible for the Scholarship which is Up to £10,000.

Eligible countries: Candidates must be classed as ‘domicile’ in either of the following countries – Algeria, Canada, China (PRC), Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong (SAR of PRC), India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Seychelles, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, United States of America, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Deadline: June 30, 2022 (11.59 p.m. BST)

The University of the West of England

The University of the West of England (UWE) offers Chancellor’s scholarship to postgraduate students with excellent academic results equivalent to a British first-class degree. It also requires students to do an internship working within the International Office or other departments and ambassadorial activity for UWE throughout the course duration.

Following graduation, the students who have obtained the scholarship will be expected to be proactive in promoting the UWE Bristol Alumni Network and become active members. The scholarship values 50% towards tuition fees for an academic year.

Scholarship availability: One for the September 2022 intake

Eligible countries: Overseas for fees purpose

Eligibility: Postgraduate students

Deadline: May 31, 2022
