Good news for students planning to study abroad in the US. As per the recent news report, US Chargé d’Affaires Patricia A. Lacina has stated that this year will surpass last year’s record of visa issuance and has already made available 100,000 appointments for student visas.
As per the last year’s record, around 62,000 US student visas were granted to Indian students.
Lacina further added, “Even after the pandemic crisis, in 2021 Mission India issued more student visas than the previous years.” Also, this year we are expecting another record-breaking application for the student visa.
India is the second largest country of international students that apply to US universities and colleges.
More than 2,500 Indian student visa applicants were interviewed in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai by the Consular officers at the US Embassy in New Delhi and Consulates General on the sixth annual Student Visa Day.
In a statement, the embassy also announced that around 200,000 Indian students are studying at US academic institutions.
