QS Best Student Cities 2024: World’s Most Student Friendly Cities

As per the recent results by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), London is one of the top cities to live by students. The top metropolitan areas for foreign students were highlighted by the QS Best Student Cities survey. London maintained its top ranking for a second consecutive year, earning the second-highest scores in the “Student Voice” (98.4) and “World University Rankings” (94.9) categories, respectively.

Melbourne placed second overall in “Student Voice” with a score of 98.4, and third overall in “Student Mix” with a score of 98.6. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering that it was listed as the most affordable city among the top 10 by Mercer’s Cost of Living City Ranking 2023.

Tokyo rose from seventh to second position in the QS Best Student Cities rankings, earning the third-highest score globally (90.1) for the QS World University Rankings indication and the fourth-highest score globally (95.9) for “Employer Activity.”

In the most recent QS Best Student Cities 2024 rankings, Madrid and Auckland rose from positions 44 and 27, respectively, to 37 and 29. When asked to rank the five most important factors in selecting a country or city to study in, prospective students prioritized a “safe and welcoming space for international students” (79%) and ranked high teaching (63%) next, followed by a “good reputation for studying” (57%), a “good lifestyle and leisure opportunity” (57%) and cost of living (55%) in that order.

In addition, the QS World University Rankings, student diversity, desirability, employer activity, accessibility, and student input were taken into account.

Some of the Top Cities are:

  • London
  • Tokyo
  • Seoul
  • Melbourne
  • Munich
  • Paris
  • Sydney
  • Berlin
  • Zurich
  • Boston

160 prestigious educational locations, including 26 new entries, are compared in the QS Best Student Cities survey. Each city must have a population of at least 250,000 and at least two universities that are listed in the most recent QS World University Rankings in order to be eligible for inclusion.
