No Doubt The pandemic has affected us in many ways. Did you choose Canada as your dream destination for undergraduate and graduate courses? Well! There are massive challenges and problems Indian students are facing till now.
Everyone must be aware that in the initial 2020, Canada closed its borders. Later, when things were a little under control, students who wished to travel to Canada for the next semester beginning May 2021 got stuck again. However, other countries like the USA opened a window for Indians to fly directly to the country, but Canada didn’t take any action. Instead, it banned Indian flights traveling directly to Canada. Thus, the first challenge Indian students faced was to visit Canadian universities through a third-country route, such as Qatar, Mexico, Maldives, Oman, or East European Countries.
Due to the pandemic, students had to study online yet pay the full fees. This turned out to be very frustrating for most kids. Also, many students stressed the campus gates for international students were still closed. The Canadian government has been extending its ban every month, which affected Indian students in every way. Also, some of the students who enrolled in COOP programs had to let go off the job opportunities as they did not have their SIN (social security number). SIN (social security number) was available to students only in person, which badly worked for most of the kids.
Also, many students had to re-visit for the medical examination (applicable only for one year) for the visa to remain valid. Further, no update on the new medical test was available on the official portal by IRCC. The process was further delayed to 3-4 weeks, and students had to keep checking for new information.
These were the common problems that students suffered. After traveling in groups many have reached safely and settling now.
Many countries are not considering the RTPCR report. Initially, many Indians made their way through the country with fake RTPCR reports. Lack of trust resulted in a change in the norms. The Canadian government announced for Indian students to enter Canada must perform the RTPCR test in another country and submit the report. Also, Covishield has been approved. However, covaxin is rejected.
For covaxin, students need to stay in quarantine for a period on reaching the country.
Another issue is the flying expenses. The tickets and hotel stay has been raised twice. The long routes and multiple flight changes is costing too much and affecting students and parents’ mindset.
If we check the count or admission rate, there is no such difference. Many students still aspire to study abroad in Canada with so many hurdles.
Over years, Canada has been the first choice to study abroad for its high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs.
In fact, the government has taken many steps and promised Permanent Residency (PR), lower cost factor, COOP program, and other attractive advantages for Indian students.
