Every year thousands of students apply for student visa interview at the US Embassy in New Delhi. Some also visit the US Consulates General in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad for the same. If we check out the complete list, you will notice that most students apply to pursue education in US universities while others march to the country for completing internships at some of the top corporations. There are more students who prefer to pursue careers as specialized workers under the H-1B program.
Where to Begin with?
If you are not sure where to start let us tell you the journey to academic success in the USA begins with securing admission to one of the US universities. You can find various resources or consult our experts to help figure out the places best for higher studies or specific courses.
For example, US-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) is known to help students get seats in the interested course by offering videos, no-cost advising sessions, etc. Also, most of the counselors at USIEF have passed out from the US universities.
Similarly, IOES has tie-up with some of the top universities in the USA and has a team of the best counselors to guide, prepare, and suggest the best courses, programs, and colleges in the USA.
Getting a Visa
Here, we will discuss things that a visa officer questions and want to see in applicants during the interviews. The qualifications that interviewers look forward to come straightforwardly from the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act. Some of them are:
1. Proof that you have been accepted by the university. Carry approved Form I-20 along with a paid slip of Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
2. Demonstrate the main purpose of visiting the USA, such as completing a course of study. If you are visiting for work, apply for the H-1B temporary worker program rather than the Student Visa.
3. You must prove that you will return to your home country after the course completion.
4. You need to provide financial proof that you can afford the education. For instance, if you have applied for a loan, then you must show the related documents, or if your family is paying for your expenses, then they must disclose their fund details.
5. You must have sufficient English capability and prove yourself to be a bona fide student prepared to get the degree for which you have been selected.
Crack the Interview
Most people search “How to standout an interview?” The only solution to it properly answers the asked questions. In case you did not understand or couldn’t hear the question, request them to pardon or repeat it.
Secondly, they want to know whether you are passionate about your studies or you are just planning to travel to the place. Here, you can share data about your current experience and the programs you have chosen. Be ready to explain the reason for switching between programs, if you have done so. Tell them how your background prepares you for the selected field.
Try to be as genuine as possible. All they need is to make the interviewers feel assured that you intend to visit the country to complete the degree you have chosen. A memorized answer is not the perfect solution. You need to be true about what you feel, what you think, and how eligible you are to get access to the visa.
Counsel officers come across thousands and thousands of children every other day. They have more experience and knowledge than you think. They can easily figure out if you are making up an answer or being genuine about yourself. Hence, focus on your interest and reasons for studying in the US. We are sure you will crack one!
